Days 72-73, Tahoe Double Zero

Part 3, Northern California, Days 72-73
Tahoe Double Zero
Miles: 0
Total Miles: 1092.3
I apologize for this post, folks, because I basically took zero pictures during my double zero in South Lake Tahoe. This is because I didn't do anything. I was too tired, and everything attached to my body hurt. I spent the time in a comfy bed at Motel 6, with the glorious air conditioning turned up, watching shows and movies on HBO. It was pure heaven. I barely ventured outside the room to procure food and resupply.
The first thing I did when I arrived in town was go the hiker friendly Lake if the Sky outfitters, where I replaced my water bladders and bought fuel.
They have a PCT hiker lounge with refreshments, computers, hiker boxes, etc. here's the lounge:
I went to Macdonalds. Look people, all I wanted to do was rest, and all the good good was 5 miles away near stateside Nevada, including the famous buffets at the casinos. Mickey D's was close, and as the hike wears on, I've developed an affinity for that place. I get the chicken nuggets and a milkshake.
It hits the spot.
I walked a mile to Motel 6. My original plan was to stay at a casino and gamble, since I've never done that before. First, I called and the prices were too high, and second, my priorities changed. I hiked 75  miles through the wildfire in two and a half days, and I only needed a small room. Motel 6 had everything I needed and wanted: TV, bed, AC, bathtub/shower, HBO, and was a bargain for the weekday rate of $39.99 a night!

There was also a Grocery Outlet across the street where I bought a weeks worth of resupply food for under $50.

It was extremely hot in town, so that was another reason to stay in the bed. I watched the Giants play, I watched the woman's World Cup, and I watched these movies on HBO: Edge of Tomorrow, Gone Girl, 47 Ronin, and Dawn if the Planet of the Apes. I also read a lot, and slept a bunch. I soaked my feet in the bathtub, which helped, but they felt like numb meat cubes the whole 2 days. I shook add that South Lake Tahoe is a big place and walking around was not an option for me.
When Saturday rolled around, I was ready to hike out, though I feared I had grown soft from my 2 zero's of laziness.
I didn't document my time for this blog as well as I should have, and I will make a better effort next time. The rest of the trail stops are different anyways. I'm approaching the boonies.
